Blue Protocol Global Release Canceled as Japan Servers Close Down

Bandai Namco's Blue Protocol, slated for a global launch via Amazon Games, has been canceled. The Japanese servers will also shut down on January 18, 2025. This decision stems from Bandai Namco's inability to deliver a consistently satisfactory player experience.

Final Updates and Player Compensation

Bandai Namco expressed regret over the cancellation, stating they couldn't maintain a service meeting player expectations. The global release partnership with Amazon Games is also terminated.

To compensate players, Bandai Namco will provide:

  • 5,000 Rose Orbs on the first of each month from September 2024 to January 2025.
  • 250 Rose Orbs daily.
  • Free access to the Season Pass, starting with Season 9.
  • Continued support with updates and new content until the final shutdown. Note: Rose Orb purchases and refunds will cease.

Chapter 7, the final update, is scheduled for December 18, 2024.

The game's Japanese launch in June 2023 initially saw over 200,000 concurrent players. However, server issues and declining player numbers ultimately led to its downfall. Bandai Namco's March 31, 2024 financial report indicated the game's underperformance, contributing to this decision. Despite its initial success, Blue Protocol failed to meet financial projections and sustain player engagement.
