MazM's new Android game, Kafka's Metamorphosis, offers a unique blend of family drama, romance, mystery, and psychological horror, following in the footsteps of their successful titles like Jekyll & Hyde and Phantom of the Opera. This narrative adventure delves into the life of Franz Kafka in 1912, the year he penned his iconic novella, The Metamorphosis.
Exploring Kafka's World
The game explores Kafka's internal struggles: balancing his aspirations as a writer with his responsibilities as a son and employee. Players uncover the motivations behind his famous story, drawing inspiration from his life and works, including The Metamorphosis, The Judgment, The Castle, and The Trial, as well as his personal writings. The game portrays themes of isolation and familial pressure, mirroring the surreal experiences of Gregor Samsa in The Metamorphosis, but viewed through Kafka's own lens. While exploring weighty themes, the game maintains a poetic and emotionally resonant tone, offering a fresh perspective on familiar struggles.
A Literary Gaming Experience
Featuring beautifully rendered illustrations and a concise, lyrical narrative, Kafka's Metamorphosis successfully bridges literature and gaming. The free-to-play game is available on the Google Play Store. MazM's next project, a horror/occult game based on Edgar Allan Poe's tales, is also in development.
