A Steam leak has reportedly revealed details about the first DLC for Assassin's Creed Shadows, titled "Claws of Awaji." This expansion, set in feudal Japan, promises a significant amount of new content.

Assassin's Creed Shadows, the first game in the franchise set in Japan, features dual protagonists: Yasuke, a Samurai, and Naoe, a Shinobi. The game's development has been fraught with challenges, including negative feedback and multiple delays. The latest delay pushed the release date to March 20, 2025.

The leaked information, originating from a since-deleted Steam update according to Insider Gaming, details "Claws of Awaji" as including a new region, weapon type, skills, gear, and abilities. The DLC is expected to add over 10 hours of gameplay. Pre-ordering the game will reportedly grant access to both the DLC and a bonus mission.

Delayed Release and Ubisoft's Uncertain Future

This leak follows another delay announcement for Assassin's Creed Shadows. Initially slated for November 15, 2024, the release was first pushed to February 14, 2025, and then again to March 20, 2025, to allow for further polishing.

The timing of the leak coincides with uncertainty surrounding Ubisoft's future, with rumors of a potential Tencent acquisition circulating. This follows a period of underperformance for several major Ubisoft titles, including XDefiant and Star Wars Outlaws.
