Avatar: Seven Havens Sequel Announced

by Sadie Mar 13,2025

Get ready, Avatar fans! Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have officially announced a brand-new animated series: Avatar: Seven Havens. This exciting news comes as a celebration of the original Avatar: The Last Airbender's 20th anniversary.

Created by Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the masterminds behind the beloved original series, Avatar: Seven Havens will be a 26-episode, 2D animated adventure. The story follows a young Earthbender, the next Avatar after Korra, navigating a world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. In this perilous era, her destiny as the Avatar marks her not as a savior, but as a potential destroyer of humanity. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin embark on a quest to uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization crumbles.

DiMartino and Konietzko shared their excitement, stating, “When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters.”

Avatar: Seven Havens will be released in two 13-episode seasons, Book 1 and Book 2. DiMartino and Konietzko are co-creating the series alongside executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. Casting details are yet to be announced.

This marks the first mainline TV series from Avatar Studios, who are also developing a feature-length animated film centered on Aang, slated for a theatrical release on January 30, 2026. This film will follow an adult Aang on a new adventure.

The 20th-anniversary celebration extends beyond Seven Havens, with Avatar Studios also unveiling a range of new books, comics, concerts, toys, and even a Roblox game.
