However, the project is not cancelled. Key figures remain attached, including executive producers Cory Barlog (Santa Monica Studio Creative Director), Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan (PlayStation Productions), Roy Lee (Vertigo), and Yumi Yang (Santa Monica Studio). Amazon and Sony are now actively searching for a new showrunner, producers, and writers to steer the series in a new direction.

Initially announced in 2022 on a PlayStation podcast, the God of War TV series followed the success of the 2018 game reboot.
