Nintendo’s rich history spanning over a century long will soon be on display at the newly built Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, Japan, set to open on October 2, 2024. Legendary game designer and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto recently offered a sneak peek at the museum’s exhibits in a video tour on YouTube, highlighting the company's extensive collection of memorabilia and iconic products that shaped one of the most prominent brands in video game history. The Nintendo Museum was constructed on the site of the original factory where Nintendo first produced its Hanafuda playing cards, way back in 1889. With the new modern two-story museum, Nintendo offers fans a retelling of its legacy and early days. Visitors can expect a comprehensive tour of Nintendo's entire history, with a Mario-themed plaza welcoming guests out in the front.

Miyamoto’s sneak-peek tour began with a showcase of Nintendo’s wide range of products over the decades. From products like board games, domino and chess sets, and RC cars, to early video game products such as the Color TV-Game consoles from the 1970s. Visitors can also expect to see a range of video game peripherals as well as products that video game fans might not typically associate Nintendo with, like a baby stroller called "Mamaberica."
Notably, one exhibit highlights the Famicom and NES systems, an iconic and defining era of Nintendo, along with a display of classic games and peripherals from every region Nintendo operated in. Visitors will also see the evolution of beloved franchises like Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda.
The Nintendo Uji Museum also houses an extensive interactive area, featuring colossal screens that visitors can interact with using their smart devices. Here, enthusiasts can engage in legendary Nintendo titles such as the Super Mario Bros. arcade classic. From its humble origins as a playing card manufacturer to its esteemed position as a household name in the gaming realm, the Nintendo museum extends its invitation and promises to ignite countless "smiles" with its grand inauguration on October 2.
