NetEase's post-apocalyptic survival game, Once Human, launched on PC with a peak concurrent player count of 230,000 on Steam, achieving seventh place in top sellers and fifth in most-played. Despite this initial success, the game's mobile release, initially planned for September, has been delayed. This delay, coupled with the peak player count (which may not reflect average player numbers), raises questions about the game's long-term performance, especially considering its pre-release Steam wishlist count fell short of 300,000.
The game features a compelling open world with supernatural elements and upcoming updates including PvP encounters and a new PvE area. NetEase, known primarily for mobile games, is making a significant push into the PC market with Once Human. While visually impressive, the transition to a primarily PC audience might prove challenging.
The mobile version of Once Human, while still anticipated, faces an uncertain future. For those seeking similar experiences in the meantime, check out our lists of the best and most anticipated mobile games of 2024!
