Hyper Light Breaker: How to Get New Weapons

by Aaron Mar 14,2025

Hyper Light Breaker boasts a diverse arsenal of weapons, and crafting a truly effective build hinges on securing a solid selection. While you begin with basic equipment, exploration unlocks opportunities to acquire weapons perfectly tailored to your playstyle.

Blending roguelike and extraction game elements, Hyper Light Breaker offers a unique approach to weapon acquisition. Here’s your guide to expanding your arsenal:

Where to Find New Weapons in Hyper Light Breaker

The primary method for obtaining new gear is through Overgrowth exploration. While exploring, you'll naturally discover new items. However, to specifically target weapons, focus on the sword (Blades) or pistol (Rails) icons on the map.

Blades are melee weapons, each boasting unique movesets and special abilities. Rails, on the other hand, are ranged weapons with diverse functionalities. Both weapon types come in varying rarities, with gold representing the most powerful. As expected, rarer items offer superior stats.

To save weapons for later runs, press the Cache button instead of Equip. This sends the weapon to your personal stash, allowing you to customize your loadout before embarking on your next adventure.

Acquiring New Starting Weapons

Beyond the weapons found during runs, you can purchase new starting gear from merchants at the Cursed Outpost. Initially, only the Blades merchant is available. Unlocking the Rails merchant requires gathering sufficient materials to repair their shop.

Merchants maintain limited stock, but their inventories refresh periodically. If you don't find what you're looking for immediately, check back later.

Weapon Upgrades

Upgrade your gear at the Outpost merchants, but first, unlock the upgrade function by increasing your affinity with the merchants. This requires Golden Rations, a rare resource obtainable through exploration or cycle resets. Use these rations wisely, as they are difficult to acquire.

Remember, equipped weapons lose durability (represented by a bar under their icons) upon death, eventually breaking after repeated failures.
