Activision's Cancellation Decision

Despite positive fan reaction, Activision axed "The Invincible Iron Man" shortly after development began. Genepool Software subsequently closed, leaving the team unemployed. While Activision offered no public explanation, Edwards speculated on several possibilities: delays to the Iron Man film, dissatisfaction with the game's progress, or the possibility of another developer taking over the project.

The game's Iron Man design, predating Robert Downey Jr.'s MCU portrayal by almost five years, closely resembled the "Ultimate Marvel" comic book version from the early 2000s. Edwards stated the design was the artist's decision. He promised further gameplay footage, but at the time of writing, this has yet to be released.
