Nintendo has revealed its newest collaboration with LEGO: a buildable Game Boy! Launching October 2025, this follows the successful LEGO NES set. While exciting news for fans of both brands, the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) sparked a flurry of speculation about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Many joked that the LEGO Game Boy was the long-awaited console reveal.

Although details on the Switch 2 remain scarce, Nintendo President Furukawa confirmed in May 2024 that an announcement regarding the Switch successor would be made within the current fiscal year (ending March).

Pricing for the LEGO Game Boy is yet to be revealed, but further information is promised in the coming weeks and months.

A History of Nintendo and LEGO Collaborations

Beyond the NES and the upcoming Game Boy, Nintendo and LEGO have previously teamed up to create sets based on popular franchises such as Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda.

A notable example is the May 2024 release of the 2,500-piece LEGO "Great Deku Tree 2-in-1" set from The Legend of Zelda series. Featuring characters and elements from both Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild, this set retails for $299.99 USD.

Following closely in July 2024, a Super Mario World-themed LEGO set debuted, showcasing a unique design featuring Mario riding Yoshi in pixelated form with a rotating crank mechanism. This set is available for $129.99 USD.
