Pokemon GO Event Adding Long-Requested Feature for a Limited Time

Pokemon GO Fashion Week: Remote Raid Passes Arrive in Shadow Raids

Pokemon GO's Fashion Week: Taken Over event introduces a highly anticipated feature: the ability to use remote raid passes in Shadow Raids. This limited-time opportunity, running from January 15th, 12:00 a.m. to January 19th, 8:00 p.m. local time, allows trainers to participate in one-star, three-star, and five-star Shadow Raids remotely or in person.

This event marks the first time remote raid passes are usable in Shadow Raids, a popular game mode introduced in 2023 known for its chance to catch Pokémon with superior Individual Values (IVs). The increased IV stats make participating in Shadow Raids even more rewarding.

A Special Ho-Oh Raid Day:

The excitement extends to a special Shadow Ho-Oh Raid Day on January 19th, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Trainers will have an enhanced chance to catch a Shiny Shadow Ho-Oh and can teach it the powerful charged attack, Sacred Fire. Furthermore, Charged TMs can be used to remove the Frustration move from Shadow Pokémon.

A Temporary Treat (For Now):

While this is a welcome addition, it's crucial to note that the use of remote raid passes in Shadow Raids is temporary, ending after the Fashion Week event concludes. Whether this will become a permanent feature remains uncertain. Given past criticism regarding the in-person requirements for challenging Dynamax and Gigantamax battles, many players hope Niantic will make this change permanent. The popularity of this request since the introduction of Shadow Raids in 2023 strongly suggests a desire for this functionality to become a standard feature.
