PSA: Days Gone Remastered $10 PS5 Upgrade Not Available for Game Redemptions via PS Plus

by Julian Mar 01,2025

Days Gone Remastered's $10 upgrade sparks PS Plus subscriber outrage. While the remastered version for PlayStation 5 was a highlight of Sony's State of Play, the $10 upgrade path is exclusive to those who purchased the PlayStation 4 version (disc or digital). This excludes players who acquired Days Gone through PlayStation Plus, leaving them to pay the full $49.99 price.

This policy has ignited a firestorm of criticism on online forums, particularly the PlayStation Plus subreddit. Many subscribers express their willingness to pay the $10 upgrade fee but are now unwilling to purchase the game at full price. Comments highlight the potential lost revenue for Sony, suggesting that even a small upgrade fee from PS Plus users would have generated significant additional income.

One user, squarejellyfish_, noted that Sony could have profited considerably, even if many PS Plus owners wouldn't play the game, as many would have been tempted by the low upgrade price. Others echo this sentiment, expressing disappointment at the missed opportunity. Several commenters, including teckn9ne79 and dredizzle99, state they will stick with their PS Plus version rather than pay full price. jackanyon95 criticizes Sony's decision, arguing that the game didn't require a remaster and that the company is essentially forfeiting potential revenue from those who received the game for free via PS Plus.

While some acknowledge Sony's likely financial calculations behind this decision, many hardcore fans are labeling the company "stingy" for this perceived lack of generosity.
