Split Fiction Hits 2 Million Sales After Just 1 Week

by Evelyn Mar 15,2025

Hazelight Games' latest cooperative adventure, Split Fiction, is experiencing a phenomenal launch, selling 2 million copies in its first week. Released on March 6th for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, the dual-protagonist story quickly became another triumph for the studio. Hazelight expressed their amazement at the overwhelming support from both new and returning fans.

Just 48 hours after launch, Split Fiction had already sold 1 million copies. An additional million copies were sold in the following five days, demonstrating sustained strong sales momentum.

The game's cooperative nature means the actual player count significantly surpasses the number of copies sold. Further boosting its reach is the Friend's Pass feature, allowing one player to purchase the game and provide free access to a friend. With continued positive social media buzz, the 2 million sales figure is expected to climb even higher.

This success echoes the trajectory of Hazelight's previous title, It Takes Two. The 2021 Game of the Year winner sold approximately 1 million copies within weeks of its March 2021 launch. This number soared to 10 million by February 2023 and an impressive 20 million by October 2024.

In IGN's Split Fiction review, the game was praised as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another."
