Stalker 2: For Science! Side Quest Walkthrough

In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players exploring The Zone will stumble upon various NPCs, triggering quests ranging from minor tasks to substantial side missions like "For Science!" This mission involves Skif meeting Yaryk Mongoose, who requests activation of a second measuring device atop a silo. While short, it rewards players with a Malachite pass, granting access to the STC Malachite facilities.

Initiating the "For Science!" Side Quest

The "For Science!" quest begins by locating Yaryk Mongoose in the Central Elevator area of the Chemical Plant. Upon approaching, players will hear Mongoose radio Skif, summoning him.

Inside the Central Elevator, go left past the conveyor belts, ascend the rusted stairs, vault the railing, and speak to Mongoose on the first floor. He'll explain the need to activate a second device on a nearby silo, initiating the mission upon acceptance.

Reaching the Silo's Peak

Exit the room and climb to the building's roof. Eliminate any rodents encountered. Climb through a broken window, descend the external ladder, and jump to the silo walkways. Equip your bolt-action weapon to counter electro anomalies. Proceed left to activate the second measuring device.

Activating the device will attract Bloodsuckers. Players can choose to fight or evade them to return to Mongoose.

Confronting Yaryk Mongoose

Returning to Mongoose, he'll explain the experiment's unintended consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose for endangering Skif or accept the reward peacefully. Neither choice significantly impacts the game's progression. Killing Mongoose allows looting the Malachite pass; choosing the peaceful option provides the pass and coupons. The pass grants access to the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible via main missions.
