Superman Unlimited Brings Marvel Mainstay Dan Slott Back to DC Comics

by Mia Feb 15,2025

DC Comics announces Superman Unlimited, a new monthly series debuting May 2025, featuring Marvel veteran Dan Slott. Slott, renowned for his work on titles like The Amazing Spider-Man and Fantastic Four, returns to DC after a two-decade Marvel exclusivity.

Slott states, "I've been waiting my whole life to tell Superman stories... Rafael Albuquerque and I are going to take him—and you—to places you’ll want to escape to every month." The series promises fresh perspectives on Superman, Lois Lane, supporting characters, classic villains, and new adversaries.

The series introduces a heightened threat level. A Kryptonite asteroid shower leaves Superman vulnerable to newly empowered foes wielding Kryptonite-enhanced weapons. This necessitates innovative technology and crime-fighting strategies. Simultaneously, Clark Kent confronts a transformed Daily Planet, now a global multimedia giant after merging with Morgan Edge's Galaxy Communications.

DC group editor Paul Kaminski compares the series' impact to Superman/Batman from the early 2000s, highlighting the "big, fun, high-flying adventures" while introducing a significant Kryptonite deposit. He envisions a world where even petty criminals pose a serious threat to Superman. This contrasts with Justice League Unlimited's focus on unlimited heroes, creating a narrative of "unlimited Super-Villains."

A 10-page prelude story launches in DC All In 2025 FCBD Special Edition #1 on May 3, 2025, followed by Superman Unlimited #1 on May 21, preceding James Gunn's Superman film on July 11.
