"Apple Officially Renews Severance for Season 3"

by Aaliyah Apr 17,2025

Apple has officially greenlit Season 3 of the critically acclaimed series, *Severance*, marking another milestone for the top-performing show on Apple TV+. The recently concluded second season has shattered records, becoming the most-watched series ever on the platform. Dive into IGN's comprehensive review of *Severance* Season 2 to get our take on this thrilling installment.

Ben Stiller, who directs and produces the series, shared his enthusiasm, saying, “Making *Severance* has been one of the most creatively exciting experiences I’ve ever been a part of. While I have no memory of this, I’m told making Season 3 will be equally enjoyable, though any recollection of these future events will be forever and irrevocably wiped from my memory as well.”

Adam Scott, star and executive producer, expressed his eagerness to return, stating, “I couldn’t be more excited to get back to work with Ben, Dan, the incredible cast and crew, Apple, and the whole *Severance* team. Oh hey also - not a huge deal - but if you see my innie, please don’t mention any of this to him. Thanks.”

Here’s the official synopsis from Apple:

In *Severance*, Mark Scout (Scott) leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure that surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. This daring experiment in ‘work-life balance’ is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work… and of himself.

In Season 2, Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe. Season 2 welcomes new series regulars Sarah Bock and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson.

While no release date has been set for Season 3, Ben Stiller appeared on Jason and Travis Kelce’s *New Heights* podcast to assure fans that the wait won’t be as long as the three-year gap between Seasons 1 and 2. “No, the plan is not to [wait three years],” Stiller clarified. “Definitely not. Hopefully, we’ll be announcing what the plan is very soon. That will not be that!”

Stiller elaborated on the delays, saying, “There was a writers’ and actors’ strike, and it took us a while to regroup after that. I think we shot for 186 days on Season 2. There was a lot of shooting and editing, and editing takes a while. But thank goodness that the audience was there when we came back on.”
