The central mystery revolves around Lila, a woman with the extraordinary ability to create universes from her very hands. The game begins with the player controlling the Master, a skeletal cultist from the Cult of Detachment, exploring a ramshackle mining colony.

The Master's journey leads them to Honin's Tea House, Lila's shop, where the narrative unfolds through shifting perspectives between Lila and the Master. Playing as Lila allows players to engage in a mini-game: crafting mesmerizing universes by mixing and matching ingredients. The Master, meanwhile, delves into the philosophies of the Cult of Detachment and encounters the Church of Many Gods.
