A recent Call of Duty: Warzone leak hints at the possible return of the beloved Verdansk map in Season 3. Since Warzone's launch, Verdansk has been a fan favorite, and its potential comeback is generating considerable buzz.
Initially, Verdansk was the sole map in Call of Duty: Warzone, launched alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Iconic locations like the City Center, Airport, Boneyard, and Suburbs defined the Verdansk experience. While a version returned in Warzone Mobile, its limited platform availability excluded console and PC players. Since then, Verdansk has been replaced by Caldera, Al Mazrah, Urzikstan, Vondel, and Verdansk '84. Although Verdansk '84 shared some similarities, its distinct aesthetic and missing landmarks (like the Gora Dam) left many players yearning for the original. This latest leak could reignite that anticipation.
Call of Duty news source Charlie Intel reported on this potential return, citing a leak from user TheGhostofHope. While a Verdansk map screenshot was included, its origin remains unclear – a datamine from Season 3 or simply a replica of the original. Unlike the significantly altered Verdansk '84 (based on Black Ops: Cold War), this teased version seems closer to the original. Season 3's overlap with the Black Ops 6 mainline game, mirroring Season 1's structure, could attract a significant influx of players. Black Ops 6, despite its release, has experienced a player decline not fully offset by Season 1 or the recent Squid Game collaboration.
Warzone and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 2 launch across all platforms on January 28th at 9:00 AM Pacific Time. This 54-day Season 1 duration may set a precedent for Season 2 and future content releases. Season 2 is expected to include Ricochet anti-cheat improvements and potentially new game modes and events. While a release date for Season 3 is unconfirmed, a spring launch is anticipated, suggesting a possible March return for Verdansk if the leak proves accurate.
It's crucial to remember that this Verdansk return is based solely on a leak. Confirmation from Activision or Treyarch is needed before celebrating. Regardless of Verdansk's fate, Activision and Treyarch continue updating Black Ops 6 and Warzone, ensuring a steady stream of new content for players.
