Crafting and Using Gems in Dynasty Warriors: Origins: A Guide

Quick Links

In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, enhancing your character's strength is crucial, and one effective way to do this is by utilizing Gems. These gems provide passive buffs that can significantly boost your performance, especially on higher difficulty levels. You can craft new gems and level up existing ones, though the process involves a degree of randomness. Here's a detailed guide on how to craft and level up gems, as well as tips to increase your chances of getting the specific gems you desire.

How To Craft & Level Up Gems In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Gem crafting in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is facilitated by Pyroxene, and you can engage in this activity at any Inn or tent within the game. When you're in your room, select the second option from the top labeled "Create Gems." Here, you can use Pyroxene to craft gems at a one-to-one ratio. There are five types of gems you can craft, and each Pyroxene you use has an equal chance of producing any of these gems.

Once you've crafted a base gem, it starts at level 1 and can be equipped through the Battle Preparations menu. Every subsequent gem of the same type you craft will contribute XP to the base gem, helping it level up and increase its effectiveness. If you're not particular about which gems you get, it's beneficial to use all your Pyroxene at once to craft multiple gems and level them up randomly.

For those who have specific gems in mind, there's a feature called "Eyes of the Sacred Bird" that might activate when you craft a single gem. This feature limits the types of gems that can be crafted with the Pyroxene you use, randomly selecting three types. You can cancel this effect by exiting and re-entering the gem crafting menu. While crafting one gem at a time can be time-consuming, it's a strategy to try and activate Eyes of the Sacred Bird for the gem you're focusing on.

Although Eyes of the Sacred Bird helps reduce the randomness of gem crafting, it doesn't eliminate it entirely.

Here are the five gems you can craft along with their passive boosts:

Gem NamePassive Boost
Oblivion GemExpands attack range.
Vortex GemBoosts damage to enemies launched into the air.
Scorch GemBoosts damage dealt to enemies with parries.
Wellspring GemRestores health for every 100 enemies defeated.
Ascendance GemActivates a chance to automatically block an attack from an enemy officer.

Where To Get Pyroxene In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Pyroxene can be found scattered throughout the overworld, appearing as distinctive orange crystals protruding from the ground. Interacting with these crystals will grant you one Pyroxene, after which the crystal will vanish. After completing a Skirmish or Battle, some Pyroxene will respawn on the overworld map, encouraging you to revisit and explore previously explored areas. Additionally, you might occasionally receive Pyroxene from letters, which you can read in your room at an Inn or a tent.
