"Days Gone Remastered: Now with Adjustable Game Speed"

by Patrick Apr 26,2025

With the release of Days Gone Remastered on the horizon, Sony's Bend Studio has unveiled an array of accessibility features designed to enhance the gaming experience for all players. In a detailed PlayStation Blog post, Kevin McAllister, Bend Studio's Creative & Product Lead, highlighted the inclusion of a Game Speed adjustment feature. This innovative option allows players to slow down the game's speed to 75%, 50%, or even 25% of the normal rate, providing a more manageable pace during intense gameplay moments. McAllister emphasized that this feature is particularly beneficial for those who might feel overwhelmed by the game's high-pressure situations, such as battling hordes of Freakers. With the introduction of the new Horde Assault mode in the remaster, this accessibility option aims to make the unique combat experience more inclusive.

In addition to the Game Speed feature, Days Gone Remastered will offer a variety of other accessibility enhancements. Players can expect customizable subtitle colors, a High Contrast Mode, UI Narration, and Collectible Audio Cues to assist in navigating the game world. The auto-complete Quick Time Event (QTE) feature, which was previously exclusive to the Easy difficulty setting, will now be available across all difficulty levels, from Easy to Survival II. This expansion aims to cater to a broader range of player abilities and preferences.

Bend Studio has also confirmed that most of these new accessibility features will be rolled out to the PC version of Days Gone, ensuring that a wider audience can benefit from these improvements. However, some features, such as feedback and control customization options, will require a compatible controller to function fully.

Announced in February, Days Gone Remastered comes with additional enhancements like an upgraded photo mode, permadeath, and speedrun options, complementing the new accessibility features. This remastered version of the 2019 post-apocalyptic zombie action-adventure game, which focuses on a biker's journey, is set to launch on April 25, 2025. Players who own the PS4 version of Days Gone will have the opportunity to upgrade to the PS5 remastered edition for just $10, making it an accessible upgrade for existing fans.
