Introducing Agadon the Hunter, a formidable new adversary set to replace the Marauder in the upcoming game, *DOOM: The Dark Ages*. Unlike the Marauder, Agadon isn't merely an upgraded version but a completely distinct enemy. Drawing inspiration from multiple bosses, Agadon possesses the ability to dodge, evade, and even deflect projectiles launched by the Doom Slayer. Players will face a variety of combo attacks, necessitating the use of a sawtooth shield—a nod to the mechanics seen in *Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice*, which has significantly influenced the game's developers. The confrontation with Agadon is designed to be the ultimate test of the skills players have honed throughout the game, serving as a final exam of sorts.
The developers have chosen to maintain the concept of a challenging boss similar to the Marauder, confident that players are prepared for an even greater challenge. The previous issue with the Marauder wasn't the difficulty itself but rather how it was presented and explained. Many mechanics needed to defeat the Marauder were not introduced earlier in the campaign, leading to frustration among players due to the sudden shift in gameplay dynamics. To address this, the developers are focusing on a smoother integration of mechanics and better preparation for players.
