The DOOM community's ingenuity knows no bounds! Recently, NyanSatan achieved the remarkable feat of running the classic DOOM game on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter. This seemingly unconventional platform, boasting its own iOS-based firmware and a processor clocking up to 168 MHz, was successfully harnessed to power the iconic shooter. The process involved accessing the adapter's firmware and then executing the game, utilizing a MacBook to overcome the adapter's lack of internal memory for data transfer.
Meanwhile, news on a new DOOM iteration offers exciting accessibility features. In DOOM: The Dark Ages, players will enjoy extensive customization options, allowing adjustments to demon aggression. This focus on accessibility is a key design goal, according to executive producer Marty Stratton. Players can fine-tune various aspects, including enemy damage and difficulty, projectile speed and damage, and even the overall game tempo, aggression levels, and parry timing.
Stratton further assures players that prior experience with DOOM: The Dark Ages isn't necessary to understand its storyline or that of DOOM: Eternal, making the games accessible to both seasoned veterans and newcomers alike.
