Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Launches Fan Vote for Like a Dragon's 20th Anniversary Merchandise
Get ready to celebrate! Like a Dragon (LAD) turns 20 in December 2025, and Ryu Ga Gotoku (RGG) Studios is letting fans decide what commemorative merchandise gets made. This special fan voting project lets you choose from over 100 items, ranging from the surprisingly diverse (lingerie, incense, mahjong tiles) to the undeniably iconic (Kiryu's dragon mask, a karaoke microphone, even 20th-anniversary sake!). Think of it as a treasure hunt through LAD's history, with the added bonus of potentially owning a piece of it. The winning item, as promised by RGG, will be produced and released within the next two years.
Voting opened February 8, 2025 and runs until March 21, 2025. You can vote once per day. Following the voting period, RGG will announce a separate survey to finalize the design of the winning item.
RGG Studio first hinted at their 20th-anniversary plans in a December 8, 2024, Twitter (X) post, commemorating their 19th anniversary. Director and Executive Producer Masayoshi Yokoyama expressed his gratitude to fans and promised various events and announcements leading up to the big 20th anniversary celebration, including this merchandise voting project.
The celebrations kicked off with the release of Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii on February 20, 2025. While further announcements haven't materialized yet, the studio's 10th-anniversary celebrations—which included the announcement of Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami remakes—offer a promising precedent. Fans are eagerly anticipating what other surprises RGG has in store.
RGG Studio revealed the PC requirements for LAD: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii on February 10, 2025, via Twitter (X). The recommended graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 or equivalent, making it accessible to most modern gaming PCs. Given the game's release on older consoles like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the PC specs are relatively undemanding. RGG also confirmed Steam Deck verification.
Recently, SEGA released a story trailer on YouTube, showcasing Majima's high-seas adventure narrated by Pirate King Raymond Law, voiced by wrestling superstar Samoa Joe.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii launches February 20, 2025, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. For more details, visit our dedicated Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii page.
