For those eagerly awaiting news of The Last of Us Part 3, renowned series creator Neil Druckmann has delivered a disheartening update. In a recent interview with Variety, primarily focused on the TV series, Druckmann effectively dashed hopes of a third installment. When questioned about the possibility, he responded with a resigned sigh, stating, “I was waiting for this question… I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it.”
While Druckmann's statement is certainly discouraging, it doesn't entirely preclude a future *Last of Us* game. Naughty Dog is currently engrossed in the development of *Intergalactic*, a project announced last December at The Game Awards, with no release date yet in sight. This significant undertaking likely occupies the studio's resources for years to come, making a *Part 3* improbable in the near future. Druckmann's comments could be strategic ambiguity, a reluctance to commit, or a genuine reflection of his current intentions. Only time will tell. However, for fans craving more Last of Us experiences, the HBO Max television series offers a compelling alternative. Season two premieres April 13th, and while the exact number of seasons remains uncertain, HBO executives have hinted at a potential four-season run, encompassing the events of Part 2.
