GTA 6 Expected to Make $1.3 Billion On Its First Day

Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 actor Ned Luke assures fans that the wait for GTA 6 will be worthwhile, even predicting its staggering first-day sales. Read on to discover more about what to expect from GTA 6 and its development.

Rockstar Games: An Unexpected Twist for GTA 6

Ned Luke, the voice of Michael De Santa in GTA 5, boldly predicts GTA 6 will generate a massive $1.3 billion in its first 24 hours. In a recent interview with YouTube channel Fall Damage, Luke shared his excitement for the upcoming game, highlighting Rockstar Games' knack for the unexpected.

He urged patience, stating, "What I tell people is, be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." Recalling GTA 5's impressive $800 million debut in 2013, Luke confidently expects GTA 6 to significantly surpass those figures.

Market research firm DFC Intelligence supports this optimism, projecting over 40 million GTA 6 sales and $3.2 billion in revenue during its first year, with a billion dollars stemming solely from pre-orders.

The Return of GTA 5 Characters in GTA 6?

Luke also offered insights into the potential return of GTA 5 characters in GTA Online and possibly GTA 6. He noted that his character, Michael, remains absent from GTA Online, unlike Trevor and Franklin.

He hinted at Michael's possible appearance in a future GTA Online DLC or even GTA 6 itself. While Steven Ogg (Trevor in GTA 5) previously suggested Trevor's death as a "passing the torch" moment in a ScreenRant interview (January 2025), Luke remained coy: "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy." Despite the actors' enthusiasm, official confirmation regarding their return remains elusive.

GTA 6: Entering the Testing Phase?

Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York suggests GTA 6 is currently undergoing internal testing. In a since-deleted interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz (via GamesRadar), York emphasized the game's unique unpredictability: "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't."

York believes GTA 6 is likely in its in-house testing phase, adding, "They're probably still putting in a little work and throwing in little extras." He speculates the game is playable and that extensive internal testing is underway.

Rockstar Games initially unveiled GTA 6 with a trailer in December 2023, but has remained tight-lipped since. While Take-Two Interactive's 2024 financial report suggested a Fall 2025 release, no official date has been confirmed.
