The highly anticipated sequel to the beloved dungeon crawler Hades, known as Hades II, is set to continue its journey from Supergiant Games. With an early access version released in 2024, fans are eager to know when they can expect the full game to launch and what insights the developers have shared about its progress.
Hades II entered early access for PC players on May 6, 2024, available on both Steam and the Epic Games Store. macOS users gained access on October 16, 2024, accompanied by a significant content update. The most recent update for early access players was rolled out on February 19, 2025. Console players, however, will have to wait for the full launch to experience Hades II. The ongoing early access period allows Supergiant Games to gather valuable feedback, which will be instrumental in refining the game before its official release.
Taking into account the feedback from the February 2025 update, a plausible full launch for Hades II could be expected in Q2 2025, covering the months of April to June. An April release seems unlikely, as it would not provide Supergiant with sufficient time to thoroughly analyze and implement the latest feedback. A May 2025 release, marking a full year since the early access began, appears more realistic, allowing the developers ample time to incorporate changes based on player input.
Even in its early access phase, Hades II has demonstrated its potential to meet the high expectations set by its predecessor. The game is expected to receive its full release sometime in 2025, with the exact timing hinging on the extent of further development and polishing Supergiant Games has planned. An official announcement regarding Hades II's release date seems imminent.

Development on Hades II commenced in early 2021, with the majority of the original game's production team and voice cast returning to work on the sequel. Throughout the development process, Supergiant Games has maintained a low profile regarding the full release date, preferring to let players experience the game's evolution through early access. The last significant press engagement from the developers occurred around the time of the technical test and initial early access launch in April and May 2024, after which the team focused primarily on development rather than promotion.
In discussions with outlets like Game Informer in May 2024, Supergiant Games expressed their intention to preserve the core elements that made the first game a success while introducing new characters and features, including the protagonist Melinoë, to ensure the sequel remains fresh and engaging. As fans await the full release of Hades II, they look forward to diving back into the thrilling dungeon-crawling experience that captivated so many with the original game.
