A recent leak suggests Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 will include a free 4-star character selector, potentially as part of a limited-time event. This selector would allow players to choose one of four units: Qingque, Pela, Serval, or Asta.

This news comes as Honkai: Star Rail's 3.0 update approaches, introducing new gameplay features and characters. While the game boasts a diverse roster of 23 4-star characters, many haven't achieved meta dominance. Newer 4-stars like Moze and Gallagher are exceptions, gaining popularity due to their versatility. However, maximizing their potential often requires significant Eidolon investment. Previous updates (Versions 2.1 and 2.7) offered free character selectors to facilitate Eidolon acquisition; this leak suggests a similar event is planned for Version 3.1.

The leaked selector features characters introduced in Version 1.0, including Asta, who is already given to players early in the game. This aligns with prior rumors suggesting a focus on 5-star character releases in upcoming updates. The near 40 existing 5-star characters compared to the 23 4-star units highlight this trend. With eight more 5-star characters anticipated in the Amphoreus update, and a rumored Fate/Stay Night crossover adding two more, the disparity is significant.

The 2.0 update only added four new 4-star characters (including March 7th's alternate form). If the leak proves accurate, future 4-star selectors might lack sufficient new unit options. Despite this, players eagerly await Version 3.0, featuring the highly anticipated characters The Herta and Aglaea.
