Keanu Reeves Pitches Constantine 2 to DC Studios, Script Now in Development

by Sophia Apr 21,2025

Keanu Reeves has delivered an exciting update about the long-awaited sequel to the 2005 cult classic, *Constantine*. The actor, known for his role as the occult detective and exorcist John Constantine in the DC Comics adaptation, has confirmed that the project is now ready for script development. This news comes after years of fan anticipation and Reeves' own expressed interest in reprising the role.

Reeves shared that after over a decade of trying to bring *Constantine 2* to life, he and his team recently pitched a story to DC Studios, which was met with approval. "We've been trying to make this film for over a decade, and we just recently put a story together and pitched it to DC Studios and they said, 'Okay,'" Reeves told Inverse. "So, we're going to try and write a script."

While this development is promising, it's important to note that *Constantine 2* is not yet a confirmed project within the rebooted DC Universe (DCU). DC Studios co-chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran have not mentioned the sequel as part of their plans. Therefore, the project remains on the edge of possibility, pending further approval and development.

Reeves also teased that if *Constantine 2* does come to fruition, it will be set in the same world as the original film. "We're not going off that," he assured fans, humorously adding, "John Constantine's going to be tortured even more."

This update follows comments from producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who revealed in September that a script for *Constantine 2* was already in his inbox. Speaking to ComicBook, di Bonaventura admitted his apprehension about reading it, saying, "You know it's in my inbox right now, funny enough. I'm too scared to read it, though, I want it to be good so bad. I’ll probably read it in the next few days, when I get on an airplane."
