"Oblivion Remastered Mods Released Online"

Bethesda has confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered does not feature official mod support. However, this hasn't deterred the game's dedicated fanbase, who have already begun releasing a variety of unofficial mods.

Just hours after Bethesda and Virtuos shadow-dropped the reimagined version of Oblivion for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, a handful of community mods appeared on the popular website Nexus Mods. These initial mods primarily offer small customization options, demonstrating the unwavering dedication of The Elder Scrolls modding community.

At the time of this article's publication, a surprising total of 22 mods were available on Nexus Mods. The first mod to be released allowed PC players to customize their desktop by replacing the default Oblivion Remastered shortcut with one of two images featuring the game's infamous Adoring Fan. Other mods enable players to skip the introduction screens featuring the Bethesda and Virtuos logos, while some, such as a mod that tweaks the Wizard's Fury spell and another that removes the compass, already offer ways to customize gameplay.

This wave of early mods comes despite Bethesda's announcement that Oblivion Remastered would not include official mod support. This information was detailed in an FAQ section on Bethesda's website, confirming that players would need to seek modding support from external sources.

Nexus Mods user GodschildGaming released their Iron Longsword damage mod to demonstrate that modding is still very much possible with Oblivion Remastered. In the mod's description, they stated, "This is just to prove modding is possible. Bethesda says no mod support, I say false. It really is Unreal slapped on top of Oblivion, the data folder is nested in a lot more folders but same concept."

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered launched today, marking 19 years since the original game's release, and is available on PC and consoles. As more players dive into the game in the coming weeks and months, the number of mods is expected to grow, offering increasingly unique ways to tailor the gaming experience.
