Recent leaks suggest a surprising development regarding the upcoming Generation 10 Pokémon games. Initial speculation pointed towards an exclusive release on the Nintendo Switch 2, given the performance issues experienced by Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on the original Switch. However, new information paints a different picture.
According to leaks shared by Centro Leaks, citing a Game Freak hacker, Generation 10 (codenamed "Gaia") is primarily being developed for the original Nintendo Switch. A separate version, "Super Gaia," appears to be in development for the Switch 2. Furthermore, there's speculation that Pokémon Legends: Z-A might also receive a native Switch 2 release.
The significance of this is amplified by Nintendo's confirmation that the Switch 2 will offer backward compatibility. This means Switch 2 owners will be able to play both "Gaia" and any potential Switch 2 versions regardless. While improved performance on the Switch 2 is anticipated, the exact nature of any Switch 2-specific enhancements remains unclear.
Important Note: All this information is based on leaks and should be treated with caution. No official announcements have been made. While a Pokémon Presents event is expected on February 27th, rumors suggest a focus on original Switch titles, potentially delaying a dedicated Switch 2 Pokémon game for years. The possibility of both original Switch and Switch 2 releases simultaneously adds another layer of intrigue to the upcoming announcement.
