Mastering Rune Slayer: Essential Tips for New Players

After a long wait and two delayed launches, Rune Slayer is finally here, and it's fantastic! While incredibly fun, there's a steep learning curve, especially for MMORPG newcomers. This guide provides essential tips to ease your journey.

These are some crucial early-game insights that would have significantly simplified our initial experience.

Avoid Unprovoked Player Attacks

Initially, the prospect of full-loot PvP in Rune Slayer was concerning. However, death doesn't result in significant item loss, even when killed by other players. You simply respawn and continue.

The caveat? Attacking players incurs a bounty. More kills increase your bounty, leading to greater item loss upon your death. Essentially, full-loot PvP is self-imposed through aggressive player-killing.

Therefore, unless strategically advantageous (or you have backup), avoid attacking other players.

Craft Bags Immediately

Inventory and bank space are severely limited. While 50 slots might seem ample, it fills rapidly. Fortunately, crafting bags expands capacity. The initial craftable bag is the Cotton Bag.

Gather Cotton north of Wayshire and Flax south (be cautious of southern mobs). Each Cotton Bag adds 10 slots—craft these as soon as possible.

Pets Don't Perish Permanently

A common misconception is that a pet's death is permanent. This is incorrect.

A slain pet has a 5-minute summoning cooldown. Check this cooldown by pressing T. After the cooldown, resummon your pet using T.

Bonus Tip: Quickly heal your pet by storing and retrieving it at the stable master (you have one free slot).

Accept All Quests

The sheer volume of quests in Rune Slayer can be overwhelming. Most are non-repeatable and forgettable, resembling typical "kill X" quests. You likely won't read many.

The solution? Accept every quest offered. This simplifies progression, often allowing for combined quests.

Craft Everything At Least Once

Prioritize crafting necessary items. However, use spare materials to craft anything you can. Initial crafting often unlocks superior crafting options. For example, smelting Iron Ore unlocked advanced Iron Armor crafting.

Join a Guild

While Rune Slayer is solo-friendly, later encounters necessitate group play. Guilds provide the easiest way to find groups for challenging enemies. Use general chat or the official Rune Slayer Discord to find a guild.
