Recent events surrounding the viral Skibidi Toilet and the popular sandbox game Garry's Mod have taken a bizarre turn with a DMCA notice, but thankfully, a resolution appears to have been reached. Garry Newman, the game's developer, has confirmed the matter is settled.
Garry Newman, creator of Garry's Mod, confirmed to IGN that a DMCA notice was received late last year from parties claiming ownership of Skibidi Toilet copyrights. Newman expressed his surprise on a Discord server, stating, "Can you believe the cheek?" The subsequent online drama surrounding the Skibidi Toilet and Garry's Mod DMCA went viral. While Newman has confirmed a resolution, the identity of the party who sent the notice remains undisclosed.
The DMCA targeted "unauthorized Skibidi Toilet Garry's Mod" content, citing significant revenue generation from these games as a key concern. The notice specifically mentioned the use of characters from the Skibidi Toilet web series, including Titan Cameraman, Titan Speakerman, and Titan TV Man, all allegedly protected by registered copyrights.
