The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we mean Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park has announced the return of Season 27, and it seems our favorite Colorado crew will be tackling the current state of affairs in their signature, barely-coping style.
A new trailer for the upcoming season cleverly tricked audiences into thinking they were getting a sneak peek at a dramatic new series. With intense editing and suspenseful music, the trailer set an ominous tone until Randy and Shelley Marsh appeared on-screen. In a classic South Park twist, Randy asks Shelley if she’s been taking drugs, suggesting, "Because I think it could really help you," as they sit on her bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background.
The trailer then shifts back to the action, teasing several significant and timely events for the season, including multiple plane crashes, the toppling of the Statue of Liberty, a P. Diddy cameo, and yet another conflict with Canada. Fans of the show, or those familiar with the 1999 movie South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, won't be surprised by the latter.
The teaser also confirms that Season 27 will premiere on July 9, 2025, on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. Since then, the series has released three specials: 2023's South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024's South Park: The End of Obesity.
South Park, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, has been a staple on Comedy Central since its acclaimed debut in 1997.
