Path of Exile 2 Endgame: A Comprehensive Guide to Rituals

Path of Exile 2 introduces four significant endgame events: Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. This guide focuses on Rituals, a revived mechanic from previous PoE Leagues. We'll cover initiation, mechanics, the Pinnacle boss, rewards, and the unique Tribute and Favour system.

Identifying and Initiating Ritual Events

On the Atlas, Ritual Altar map nodes are marked with a distinctive red pentagram icon. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, slotted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen node.

Once in a Ritual map, several Altars will appear. Each map features a shared random modifier affecting enemy types or mechanics (e.g., massive rat swarms or life-draining blood pools).

Interact with an Altar after noting its modifiers. A large enemy wave will spawn within a designated circle. Remaining within this zone is crucial; leaving it prematurely ends the event and forfeits rewards. A map is considered complete upon successful completion of all its Rituals.

The King in the Mists: The Ritual Pinnacle Boss

The 'An Audience With The King' currency item, obtained through Favours, unlocks the Crux of Nothingness and the King in the Mists fight. His mechanics mirror his campaign counterpart (found in Act 1, Cruel difficulty, Freythorn zone). Defeating him grants 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique Ritual-exclusive items, powerful currencies, and Omen items.

Navigating the Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Ritual Passive Skill Tree (accessed via the Atlas map's passive skill tree screen) enhances Ritual events. It offers nodes to reduce Tribute requirements, improve rewards, and boost unique currency drop rates. The tree features eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing the King in the Mists' difficulty. Each Notable node requires defeating the Pinnacle boss at an increased difficulty.

Notable Ritual Passive Skills:

Prioritize 'From The Mists', 'Spreading Darkness', and 'Ominous Portents' initially for optimal reward increases. Then focus on 'Tempting Offers' and 'He Approaches' for enhanced Omen and 'An Audience With The King' chances.

Understanding Ritual Rewards: Tribute and Favours

Completed Rituals grant Tribute, a temporary currency exchanged for Favours (randomized items). More Altars completed yield more Tribute and unlock higher-tier Favours, including Rare gear and high-value currencies. 'An Audience With The King' is exclusively obtained through Favours.

Omen Currencies: A Powerful Addition

Omen currencies are exceptionally valuable, modifying the effects of other currency items. They are consumed upon use and can significantly enhance crafting potential. Examples include Omens of Annulment and Alchemy. Consider trading them if unsure of their immediate use.

Beyond Favours, Ritual enemies drop high-tier currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.). The King in the Mists has a chance to drop unique items from a Ritual-specific pool.
