As you delve deeper into the world of *Avowed*, you'll face increasingly formidable foes. To maintain your edge in battle, upgrading your weapons and armor is crucial. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to enhance your gear in *Avowed*.
In *Avowed*, the key to upgrading your weapons and armor lies at the Workbench, as shown in the image above. Each upgrade demands specific materials, which vary based on the type of item and its Quality. While most materials are readily available in the game world or can be crafted, upgrading from one Quality level to another requires increasingly rare forms of Adra.
You'll find these Workbenches at Party Camps, which you can establish at any Adra Waystone you encounter. Simply interact with an Adra Waystone and choose to set up a Party Camp. These locations will then be marked on your map with a tent icon, allowing you to fast travel to them for future upgrades.
In *Avowed*, the power of your weapons and armor is determined by two main factors: Quality and additional upgrades. Quality is indicated by a numerical value, color rarity, and an adjective. The numerical value and color rarity align with the levels of enemies in the Living Lands. Gear with a lower Quality than the enemies you face will be less effective in combat.
When your gear's Quality is below that of your adversaries, you'll find your weapons dealing less damage and your armor offering less protection. However, gear provides bonuses when used against enemies of the same or lower level. To keep pace with the escalating challenge, it's essential to upgrade your gear to match or exceed the enemies' levels. Here are the Quality levels in *Avowed*:
Within each Quality level, you can further enhance your gear through three additional upgrade tiers, marked as +0 through +3. These upgrades incrementally boost your gear's stats, though not as dramatically as changing the Quality. Importantly, you must complete all three additional upgrades within a Quality level before you can advance to the next Quality.
Each Quality level in *Avowed* allows for three additional upgrade tiers (+0 to +3). While these upgrades won't be as impactful as a Quality increase, they still enhance your gear's performance. Remember, you need to max out these upgrades before you can elevate your gear to the next Quality level.
In *Avowed*, weapons and armor are categorized into standard and Unique types. Standard gear is ubiquitous, obtainable through looting or purchasing from Merchants. Unique gear, on the other hand, includes named items often acquired through Main or Side Quests, dropped by bosses or bounties, or occasionally sold by select Merchants.
Unique gear can be upgraded to the highest Legendary Quality, while standard items typically max out at Superb. Moreover, Unique items come with additional bonuses and perks, making them far more valuable. As a strategic approach, prioritize upgrading Unique weapons and armor, using standard gear as interim solutions until you can enhance your Unique items. Standard gear can be sold to Merchants for Skeyt or dismantled for resources needed to upgrade your Unique gear.
And that's how to upgrade weapons and armor in *Avowed*.
