Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: Stream Games on Consoles Now

by Penelope Apr 19,2025

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members have unlocked an exciting new perk: the ability to stream select games directly to their consoles without the need for downloading. This update was detailed in a recent Xbox Wire news post, which highlighted that members can now stream games from the Game Pass catalog and certain games they own on Xbox Series X, S, and Xbox One consoles via cloud streaming.

Previously, cloud streaming was available on smart TVs, PCs, smartphones, and Meta Quest headsets, but this marks the first time it's accessible on consoles. This feature is a game-changer, allowing users to bypass the often time-consuming process of downloading games and saving on valuable hard drive space.

To utilize this feature on an Xbox console, follow these steps:

  • Go to My games & apps > Full library > Owned Games.
  • Games that are available for cloud streaming will show a cloud badge on their game page. To quickly find these games, use the filters: choose Filter > Ready to play > Cloud gaming.
  • Select the game you want to play and choose Play with Cloud Gaming. You can also start streaming directly from the Store app after purchasing select cloud playable games.

On the flip side, any game installed on your Xbox can be streamed to devices with supported web browsers using this link. Note that this feature is no longer supported on the Xbox mobile app but remains available on phones via the browser link. Xbox is also expanding this capability to Samsung and Amazon Fire smart TVs, as well as Meta Quest headsets.

Additionally, starting this month, Xbox and Xbox 360 backward compatible games will support remote play, further enhancing the gaming experience.
