Hanafuda Koi-Koi is a classic Japanese card game. This guide explains the English rules. Koi-Koi (こいこい), meaning "come again" or "once more," is a popular two-player variant of Hanafuda, utilizing a special deck of Japanese playing cards.
The objective is to outscore your opponent by creating specific card combinations known as "yaku" before they do. Players accumulate cards in a point pile by matching cards in their hand or drawn from the deck with cards already on the table. Upon completing a yaku, a player can choose to stop and score points or continue ("koi-koi") to accumulate more yaku and increase their score. While individual card point values aren't directly scored, they are crucial in identifying potential yaku.
