New Battlefield Features to be Tested by Thousands of Players

by Adam Apr 10,2025

EA has unveiled an exciting new initiative called Battlefield Labs, which serves as an internal closed beta for upcoming games in the acclaimed Battlefield series. The developers have given fans a sneak peek with a brief snippet of gameplay from the current pre-alpha version, sparking anticipation and curiosity.

Within Battlefield Labs, invited participants will have the unique opportunity to test core mechanics and experimental concepts. However, it's important to note that not all of these elements will necessarily make it into the final game. To ensure confidentiality, all participants will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before diving into the various gameplay elements. The modes available for testing include fan-favorites Conquest and Breakthrough. The initial phases of testing will concentrate on refining combat mechanics and the game's renowned destruction system, with subsequent phases dedicated to balancing the gameplay.

EA has opened pre-registration for Battlefield Labs on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series. In the coming weeks, a select group of a few thousand players will receive invitations to join the beta. The company plans to gradually expand access to more regions as development progresses.

The new Battlefield game has officially entered what the creators describe as a "key stage of development." While there is no official release date announced yet, the project is being collaboratively developed by four renowned studios: DICE, Motive, Criterion Games, and Ripple Effect. This multi-team approach promises a rich and dynamic gaming experience for fans eagerly awaiting the next installment in the series.
