Boss fights can be a real challenge, especially when you're not fully prepared for what lies ahead. In *The First Berserker: Khazan*, boss battles are filled with surprises and twists, and the Blade Phantom is no exception. Here's a detailed guide on how to conquer this formidable foe in *The First Berserker: Khazan*.
The ghostly voices haunting Khazan finally take form in the Trials of the Frozen Mountain level on Stormpass, introducing you to the Blade Phantom. This boss lives up to its name with relentless attacks that will push your stamina and aggression management to the limits. It's your first multi-phase boss, making it essential to master its patterns.
The battle begins in a castle with floors flooded with crimson liquid. The Blade Phantom unleashes several attacks:
In addition to these melee attacks, the Blade Phantom can summon a giant hammer in *The First Berserker: Khazan*, causing damage and red spikes to appear in front of it. If it switches to a spear, be prepared for a quick throw followed by a teleporting smash. When wielding a blade, it unleashes a swift six-hit combo. It can also vanish and dash around the battlefield before attacking.
Mastering the timing of these attacks is key. By parrying or dodging effectively, you can find openings to attack and deplete its stamina, setting up opportunities for a Brutal Attack. Continue this strategy until you reduce its health by about half, which triggers the second phase.
The second phase kicks off with the Blade Phantom launching four claw attacks, followed by a high spear throw. Once the spear lands, quickly move away from the impact area to avoid damage, and prepare for a leaping swipe. This is followed by three greatsword slashes and a final hammer smash.
While the Blade Phantom retains many of its previous moves in *The First Berserker: Khazan*, new additions include a spear thrust and follow-up, along with four to six sets of swift dual-wielding attacks. Teleportation becomes more frequent, and when armed with a greatsword, watch for multiple slashes culminating in a Burst Attack, signaled by a red P-like symbol on the screen. To counter this, use the Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to parry successfully, which will restore your stamina and leave the boss vulnerable to further attacks.
Exploit these moments to attack when the Blade Phantom's stamina is depleted, and initiate the Brutal Attack just before the window closes. This approach maximizes your damage output, making victory more achievable. Upon defeating the boss, you'll be rewarded with 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman's Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
