Dynasty Warriors games are renowned for their hack-and-slash combat, yet they demand a certain level of skill. Recognizing this, Dynasty Warriors: Origins introduces four difficulty settings, allowing players to customize their gaming experience based on their skill and desired challenge level. As a reboot, it caters to both new and veteran players, though choosing the right difficulty can be daunting. The ideal setting depends on your skill and the challenge you're looking for.
In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, players have access to four difficulty settings, with three available from the start: Historian (easy), Wayfarer (normal), and Hero (hard). The fourth, Ultimate Warrior (very hard), unlocks after completing one of the main faction scenarios. While there's an achievement for completing a battle on Ultimate Warrior, no achievements are tied to completing the main campaign on specific difficulties.
For newcomers or those interested primarily in the story, Historian is the best choice. Wayfarer suits most players, even those with limited Musou/Warriors experience. Dedicated fans might opt for Hero, while seasoned players could challenge themselves with Ultimate Warrior once unlocked. Fortunately, if the chosen difficulty proves too tough or too easy, players can adjust it between battles in the config menu without affecting the story.
On Historian, all enemy attacks are blockable, and it's easier to stagger foes, gain bravery, and fill the Musou Gauge. Hero ramps up the challenge with stronger, more aggressive enemies, reduced parry and perfect evade windows, and no Meat Buns dropped by enemies. Blocking reduces bravery, time to influence battles is shorter, and earnings of Skill Points and gold are slightly lower. Ultimate Warrior intensifies these effects, with even tighter parry and evade windows and significantly reduced battle earnings.
