Elden Ring: Nightreign Omits Player Messaging

Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the in-game messaging feature, a departure from previous FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter play sessions. With each Nightreign session lasting approximately forty minutes, there's insufficient time for players to effectively send or read messages.

"Given the roughly forty-minute session length, there's not enough time to send or read messages, so we disabled the feature," Ishizaki stated.

This choice is noteworthy, considering the significant role messaging has played in fostering player interaction and enjoyment in past FromSoftware games. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.

To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate narrative. It offers a distinct adventure with new challenges and encounters, while preserving the signature atmosphere and complexity of the Elden Ring world.
