LEGO Enters the Gaming World with In-House Projects

LEGO CEO Niels Christiansen has shared exciting news about the company's future, announcing plans to broaden its digital footprint by venturing into video game development. This ambitious move includes creating games both independently and in collaboration with other developers. Christiansen stated, “We are confident that, as long as we operate under the LEGO brand, we aim to create experiences for children of all ages across both digital and physical platforms. Developing games internally is something we are actively pursuing.” This strategy does not mean LEGO will cease licensing its brand to third-party developers. Just last month, journalist Jason Schreier reported that TT Games, renowned for its LEGO-themed titles, is developing a new LEGO game, likely linked to one of Warner Bros.' franchises.

Currently, LEGO's most notable gaming project is its collaboration with Epic Games. Last year, Fortnite introduced a LEGO-themed mode, which swiftly became one of the game's most beloved features. LEGO has also made a significant impact in the gaming world through its long-standing partnership with TT Games, which has produced the popular adventure game series over the past two decades. Although new projects from the studio have been quiet recently, there are whispers of a new LEGO Harry Potter game in development, inspired by the commercial success of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

Further expanding its gaming portfolio, LEGO partnered with 2K Games to release LEGO 2K Drive, a racing game that debuted last year, demonstrating the brand's adaptability and versatility in the gaming industry.
