Love and Deepspace Is Adding Face Verification to Its Chinese Version

Love and Deepspace is enhancing its security measures in China with the introduction of a face verification system, set to launch in April 2025. This might sound strict, but there's a reason behind it. Let's break it down.

Why the Face Verification in China?

In China, online games already require strict real-name authentication. Love and Deepspace, rated 18+ in China, is implementing face verification to prevent underage players from accessing the game. This aligns with China's Minors' Protection Law and its ongoing efforts to combat gaming addiction among minors. These efforts include playtime restrictions (90 minutes on weekdays, three hours on weekends, etc.) and mandatory "Healthy Gaming Advice" prompts before gameplay. Facial recognition is already widely used in China for security in various sectors, including airports and banks.

What Does This Mean for Global Players?

For players outside of China, this change likely won't affect gameplay. The face verification system is specifically implemented to comply with Chinese regulations. Since Love and Deepspace maintains a 12+ rating in most global app stores, the addition of a similar system globally is unlikely.
