Genshin Impact is cooking up something scrumptious! Cryptic tweets posted on Twitter (X) hint at the mobile gacha game's collaboration with McDonald's!

McDonald's started the conversation with a playful tweet earlier today, asking fans to "text 'traveler' to +1 (707) 932-4826 to guess the next quest." Genshin Impact replied with "Ugh?" and a meme from 2021: Paimon wearing a McDonald's hat.

HoYoverse didn’t waste any time teasing the collaboration. The Genshin Impact Twitter (X) account followed up McDonald's tweet with a cryptic post of their own, featuring a random assortment of in-game items and caption "A mysterious note of unknown origin. All that’s on it are some strange symbols." Fans were initially puzzled but quickly realized the initials of these items spelled out "McDonald’s."

Soon after, McDonald’s official accounts on social media updated their profiles with Genshin-themed elements, with their Twitter bio hinting at a "new quest" unlocking this September 17th.

It seems this collaboration has been in the works for a considerable time. The fast-food chain even hinted at the partnership more than a year ago, when Genshin’s version 4.0 released, playfully tweeting, "wondering if fontaine has a drive-thru #Genshin" and an image of them downloading the new patch.

Genshin Impact’s track record with collaborations is remarkable. From gaming giants like Horizon: Zero Dawn to real-world brands like Cadillac, the popular RPG has consistently partnered with varied entities. Even fast-food chains like KFC in China have gotten in on the action, offering exclusive in-game items, limited-edition toys, and a unique Wind Glider.

While Genshin’s collaboration with McDonald’s hasn’t revealed specifics yet, the potential for extensive reach is high. Unlike the previous partnership with KFC, which was limited to China, McDonald’s US Facebook profile change suggests that their collab may have a wider reach.

So, could we soon be enjoying a side of Teyvat fried eggs with our Big Mac? We’ll find out more on September 17th.
