Get ready for some serious metal-bending action in Mortal Kombat 1! NetherRealm Studios has unleashed the first gameplay footage of the highly anticipated T-1000 DLC guest character, and they’ve also thrown in a surprise: Madam Bo as a new Kameo fighter.

The T-1000 gameplay is a nostalgic trip back to Terminator 2, showcasing a range of attacks that utilize its shape-shifting abilities. Think blade arms, hook arms, and liquid metal transformations – moves reminiscent of Baraka, Kabal, and even Glacius from Killer Instinct. Robert Patrick, the original T-1000 actor, lends his voice and likeness, adding an extra layer of authenticity. The teaser culminates in a brutal Fatality that reimagines the iconic Terminator 2 truck chase scene, with Johnny Cage as the unfortunate victim.

PlayAdding to the excitement, NetherRealm surprised fans by announcing Madam Bo as a DLC Kameo fighter, launching alongside the T-1000. This fan-favorite character from the base game's story mode will provide unique support in battle. Catch a quick glimpse of her in action during the T-1000 and Johnny Cage pre-fight sequence and later as a T-1000 assist.

The T-1000 becomes playable in Mortal Kombat 1 on March 18th for early access via the Khaos Reigns expansion, with general availability on March 25th. Madam Bo arrives on March 18th as a free update for Khaos Reigns owners or a separate purchase.

The T-1000 marks the final DLC character for the Khaos Reigns expansion, following Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, and Conan the Barbarian. Speculation continues about a potential third DLC pack or Kombat Pack 3, fueled by the game's success and Warner Bros. Discovery's continued investment in the Mortal Kombat franchise. CEO David Zaslav confirmed the company's commitment to doubling down on just four key titles, with Mortal Kombat being one of them.

Madam Bo is coming to Mortal Kombat 1 as a Kameo fighter.
Ed Boon, Mortal Kombat's creative director, previously revealed that NetherRealm had planned its next project three years prior, promising continued support for Mortal Kombat 1. While many anticipate a third installment in the Injustice series, neither NetherRealm nor Warner Bros. has confirmed this yet. The original Injustice: Gods Among Us launched in 2013, followed by Injustice 2 in 2017. The release of Mortal Kombat 11 in 2019, and subsequently Mortal Kombat 1 in 2023, broke the alternating pattern between the two franchises.

Boon previously cited the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition to Unreal Engine 4 (from Unreal Engine 3 used in Mortal Kombat 11) as contributing factors to this shift, while confirming that the Injustice franchise remains a possibility for future development.
