Nishino Appointed CEO of Sony Interactive, Totoki Named Sony CEO

by Max Mar 26,2025

Hideaki Nishino has been appointed as the sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), with his leadership role commencing on April 1, 2025. This significant change was announced through an official press release this evening, highlighting a series of executive promotions within Sony.

Alongside Nishino's promotion, Sony's CFO, Hiroki Totoki, will step into the role of president and CEO of the entire Sony Corporation. Totoki will succeed Kenichiro Yoshida, who has been at the helm since April 2018, following Kazuo Hirai. Additionally, Lin Tao, currently the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Finance, Corporate Development, and Strategy, is set to become the new CFO.

This restructuring follows last year's announcement where Nishino and Hermen Hulst were appointed to co-lead SIE after the retirement of former CEO Jim Ryan. Hulst took charge of PlayStation Studios, while Nishino managed hardware and technology aspects. With the latest development, Nishino will now oversee the entire SIE operation and lead the platform business group, whereas Hulst will continue to focus on PlayStation Studios.

Nishino, who has been with Sony since 2000, previously held the position of SVP of the Platform Experience Group. Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Nishino stated, "I am truly honored to take the helm at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Technology and creativity are two of our biggest strengths as we continue to focus on developing experiences that deliver entertainment for everyone. We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as IP expansion, while also delivering the best in technology innovation. I want to thank Hermen for his expertise and leadership as he continues his role as CEO, Studio Business Group. I am deeply grateful for the PlayStation community and their continued support and I am very excited for what the future holds."
