A recent leak suggests that Wriothesley, a popular character in Genshin Impact, will finally see his first rerun in Version 5.4 after spending over a year in the Fortress of Meropide. With the game boasting over 90 playable characters, Genshin Impact faces significant challenges in scheduling fair and equitable Event Banners. Given that only one new 5-Star character is typically released per patch, there are currently 43 limited 5-Star characters that should ideally have a rerun annually. However, with just 27 available slots for these reruns, achieving this balance is nearly impossible.
The introduction of the Chronicled Banner was an attempt by the developers to mitigate this issue, but many players view it as a temporary solution rather than a comprehensive fix. For instance, Shenhe had to wait over 600 days for her rerun, which was finally confirmed for Version 5.3. Without the implementation of Triple Banners, Genshin Impact players are likely to experience extended wait times for character reruns.
Wriothesley, a Cryo Catalyst who debuted in Version 4.1, has been notably absent from Event Banners since November 8, 2023. Known for his modern take on the Cryo hypercarry role and effective Burnmelt teams, Wriothesley's return is eagerly anticipated. According to the leaker Flying Flame, Wriothesley is set to feature on the Event Banners in Version 5.4.
It's important to approach this information with caution, as Flying Flame has had mixed accuracy with leaks related to Natlan. While they correctly predicted the introduction of a new Chronicled Banner themed around the Lantern Rite in Version 5.3, other predictions have proven false. Nonetheless, the new Spiral Abyss buff in Genshin Impact aligns well with Wriothesley's playstyle, lending some credibility to the rumor.
Version 5.4 is also expected to introduce Mizuki, potentially the first Standard Banner character from Inazuma. If Mizuki and Wriothesley are featured on one half of the Event Banners, the other half might include either Furina or Venti, as Archon characters typically follow a sequential rerun pattern. Both are the only Archons yet to have their reruns in the current cycle. Version 5.4 is slated for release on February 12, 2025.
