by Lucas Mar 29,2025

Happy New Year! Welcome to 2025, and congratulations on surviving another full orbit around our fiery solar companion. As we kick off the new year, it's the perfect time to look ahead at the exciting lineup of video game releases slated for 2025. Here's a rundown of the most anticipated titles we know about so far!

January 2025

Dynasty Warriors: Origins
On January 17, Tecmo Koei brings back their iconic musou series with Dynasty Warriors: Origins, the first major installment since 2018. Harnessing the power of current-gen hardware, this game promises to fill your screen with hordes of enemies ready to be vanquished as you shout the iconic battlecry, "DIE, NASTY WARRIORS!" Available on PS5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC.

For those who enjoy taking down enemies from a distance, Sniper Elite: Resistance launches on January 30. This latest entry in the long-range, Nazi-targeting series sticks to its tried-and-true formula of precision shooting, with a particular focus on, shall we say, anatomically specific hits. It's available on all Xbox and PlayStation platforms, as well as PC.

February 2025

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
On February 11, dive back into the medieval world with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, continuing the journey of Henry of Skalitz in a richly detailed 14th-century Bohemia. This immersive RPG offers deep role-playing and a vast open world, allowing you to shape Henry's path as you see fit. Available on current-gen consoles and PC.

Also launching on February 11, Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 offers a grand strategy experience spanning millennia. Guide your civilization through history with the classic 4X gameplay (Explore, Expand, Exploit, Exterminate) on nearly every platform, including Linux, but not mobile (yet).

On February 14, Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes Ubisoft's open-world series to feudal Japan, allowing players to experience the life of both a ninja and a samurai through dual protagonists. Available on current-gen consoles and PC.

For those looking for a unique Valentine's Day experience, Date Everything! offers a sandbox dating sim where you can romance over 100 anthropomorphized objects, all fully voice-acted. Available on PS5, Xbox Series consoles, Switch, and PC.

Monster Hunter Wilds
On February 18, Avowed from Obsidian Entertainment brings a new first-person action RPG set in the Pillars of Eternity universe. Unlike the sprawling Skyrim, Avowed is designed to be more concise, akin to The Outer Worlds, making it perfect for those who struggle to finish long games. Available on Xbox Series consoles and PC.

On February 21, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii sees Goro Majima embark on a pirate adventure after amnesia strikes. This unique blend of Yakuza action and pirate life is available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.

The highly anticipated Monster Hunter Wilds arrives on February 28, aiming to refine the beloved series while introducing new features to attract both veterans and newcomers. Available on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC.

March 2025

Split Fiction
On March 6, Split Fiction from Hazelight Studios offers a co-op adventure where a sci-fi and fantasy author gets trapped in virtual reality. Experience bizarre adventures, including transformations into pigs and hot dogs, with one copy allowing two players to enjoy the game online. Available on PC and current-gen consoles.

On March 25, Tales of the Shire invites you to live the simple life of a hobbit in a cozy life sim. Focus on gardening, smoking pipes, and enjoying the tranquility of the Shire, free from epic quests. Available on PS5, Xbox Series consoles, Switch, and PC.

Atomfall
On March 27, Atomfall offers a survival experience in a post-nuclear English countryside, drawing inspiration from Fallout and Stalker. Explore an alternate history where a nuclear disaster has far-reaching consequences. Available on all platforms except Switch.

Also on March 27, The First Berserker: Khazan expands the Dungeon & Fighter universe with a single-player action RPG. Available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.

On March 28, inZOI aims to challenge The Sims with its stunning visuals and innovative gameplay. This South Korean-developed life sim could be a major hit among fans looking for a fresh take on the genre. Initially available on PC, with console versions planned for later.

April 2025

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves
On April 24, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves marks the return of the beloved fighting game series with its first new entry since 1999. Featuring familiar faces like Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui, this game is set to reignite the excitement of Fatal Fury on PlayStation, Xbox Series, and PC.
