Who Can Use Smart Switch?

Smart Switch is compatible with a variety of devices:

• Android™ owners: Wireless transfer is available for devices running Android 4.0 or higher. For wired transfers, your device should be running Android 4.3 or higher, and you'll need a charger cable and a USB connector. Note that non-Samsung devices with Android versions lower than 6.0 can only connect with Galaxy devices that support a mobile AP.
• iOS™ owners: You have multiple options:
  • Wired transfer from your iOS device to your Galaxy requires iOS 5.0 or above, an iOS device cable (lightning or 30 pin), and a USB connector.
  • Import from iCloud™ if you're running iOS 4.2.1 or higher and have an Apple ID.
  • Transfer via PC/Mac using iTunes™ with Smart Switch PC/Mac software, which you can download from http://www.samsung.com/smartswitch.

What Can Be Transferred?

With Smart Switch, you can transfer a wide range of data, including contacts, calendar (device content only), messages, photos, music (DRM-free content only, not supported for iCloud), videos (DRM-free content only), call logs, memos, alarms, Wi-Fi settings, wallpapers, documents, app data (Galaxy devices only), and home layouts (Galaxy devices only). By upgrading your Galaxy device to M OS (Galaxy S6 or higher), you can also transfer app data and home layouts.

Supported Devices

Smart Switch supports recent Galaxy mobile devices and tablets, starting from the Galaxy S2. Note that older OS versions (GB/ICS) on the Galaxy S2 may cause incompatibility, so a firmware update might be necessary. Keep in mind that due to compatibility issues, it may not be possible to install and use Smart Switch on certain devices. For successful data transfer, both devices need at least 500 MB of free space in their internal memory. For non-Samsung devices experiencing frequent disconnections during wireless transfers, you can adjust Advanced Wi-Fi settings by turning off "Wi-Fi initialize" and "Disconnect low Wi-Fi signal" options.
