Dead Cells final two updates are now live on iOS and Android, with fresh content to wrap it up

by Blake Mar 19,2025

Dead Cells' final updates, "Clean Cut" and "The End is Near," have arrived, bringing a final wave of content to this long-running roguelike. For years, Dead Cells has been consistently updated with new weapons, gear, and enemies, and these updates are a fitting, action-packed conclusion.

"Clean Cut" and "The End is Near" introduce four new weapons, including the striking Sewing Scissors and the Misericorde, along with exciting new game modes like Speedrun and Boss Rush DIY. Players can also look forward to 40 new heads, multiple new enemy types, and an NPC allowing for on-the-fly head customization. While future development will focus on quality-of-life improvements, this substantial content drop ensures players will have plenty to explore.

It's ironic that Dead Cells faced significant criticism only upon the cessation of free updates. Five years of free content (plus paid expansions) and ongoing bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements is a remarkable achievement, and will surely keep the game vibrant for years to come.
